Q&A: Chronic upper left back pain (inside, and not muscle ...

Question by toni p: Chronic upper left back pain (inside, and not muscle)??
Hello All!

I am 28 yr old Computer Programmer. I was in an accident way back when I was around 13. A scooter hit me from back on the left side, as I was playing near my home. The pain was very intense. My parents weren?t home, so no body was there to give me immediate attention. I was ok in few minutes as I started to feel better. I told my parents later, but I felt normal after that day.

The pain came back around October (for few days) for couple years till I was 15/16 yr old, that made me think that the accident occurred around October initially.

Now after that I was perfectly normal, never heard of any back pain until last week, when at the gym I did back exercise. That might have resurrected my back pain. And its weird its again in October.

I am also confused, whether it was the exercise or my mattress/bed.

But the pain is faint, its not intense.

I am thinking of going for a CT scan or whatever scan that will see my back and show me whats goin on there?,

Can anybody give me their honest expert opinion/remedy/suggestion/comments/thoughts!

Thanks

I fell out of a care when I was three and hit by another when I was 7. For the one when I was seven I didn?t go to the dr. either. Then I was rear ended and had to go to p.t. and I have been going to p.t., chiro, and acupuncture ever since, that is up until the end of last year. I had an appointment with the chiro for every two weeks or more often when needed. After 25 years of tests and therapy and none of the tests showing anything wrong, one dr. actually told me he thought it was all in my head, and therapy only making me feel better, I came across these muscle releasing exercises. They have been a god send and since I started with them, Dec. of last year, I haven?t been back for any type of therapy at all. I hope you can find some of that same relief in them. Do the one for your back first. Then if you have any pains that aren?t covered by these exercises but they pop up, just press into them for 30 seconds and see if that will take care of them.
For your neck:
place your hand alongside your head and push your thumb in under your ear and place it on the muscle there. Take your fingers and place them on the back of your neck on the muscles there. Press them together and hold a good amount of pressure on them. Then relax, take a deep breath an happening, the muscle going limp under the pressure. Continue to hold until the entire muscle has gone limp.
Back:
Place your left hand on your left knee. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and with your fingertips find the muscle next to your spine. Press on it and hold. Relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don?t tense up any part of your body. After about 30 seconds there should be a release happening and when it does slowly lower yourself forward onto your right leg or even over it if you can, the more over the better it is. Continue holding for a total of one minute. Then release but rest your body there for one minute longer. Then reverse and do the right side.
