Friends of the House, an organization of passionate young professionals dedicated to supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin & Central Texas, hosted the inaugural House Party 2012 on Saturday, May 19th at the Lytle Pressley Contemporary?art gallery.

Nearly 150 young professionals attended the cocktail party and raised more than $19,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin & Central Texas.? This was a huge success for the organizers, who set an initial fundraising goal of $10,000!
Shannon Ferguson, co-chair for the event, said, ?House Party 2012 was a great success across the board.? We exceeded our fundraising goal, spread the word about Friends of the House and raised awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities, all while enjoying a truly fabulous party. I am already looking forward to House Party 2013!
Ferguson has a personal connection to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.? Her family is one of the many families that the organization has served.? The organization provides lodging and support services in a nurturing, home-like environment to families during the treatment and care of their critically ill or injured children.? Joining Friends of the House is her way of giving back to the organization.
Members of Friends of the House range in ages from 25 to 40 with professional backgrounds in various industries.? Justin Clowers, co-chair for House Party 2012, was telling me he was introduced to the organization by a friend, and he?s hoping to introduce other young professionals to the organization.? ?People want to be involved, but they just don?t know how,? says Clowers.? Through his involvement with Friends of the House, Clowers has been able to strengthen his leadership skills while volunteering his time and raising funds for a good cause.

House Party 2012 was a hotspot for young professionals!? Austin?s young and hot enjoyed an evening of tasty hors d?oeuvres from Apothecary Cafe, fabulous cocktails from Bacardi, complimentary beer provided by KEG 1 and music by popular DJ, el john Selector. ?Guests also had the opportunity to browse more than 50 silent auction items and contemporary art exhibits throughout the gallery.? The night continued with an after party held at Tacos and Tequila (TNT).
Plans for House Party 2013 are already in the works!? Next year?s event will be held in June, and tickets will be available in the spring.? Information will be available on the Friends of the House website.
